SORIAH
The Portland musician and ritual artist known as Soriah first came into being more than 10 years ago. His unique vision has evolved to draw equally from performance and musical traditions both modern and ancient— raga, shamanism, the revisionist arts of electro-acoustics, noise, butoh, and free improvisation. One element which pervasively informs his work, is traditional Tuvan throat singing. Soriah has extensively trained in, and received recognition for his achievements with, this style of overtone singing. Most recently, he was honored as the Third Place winner in the International Symposium of Khoomei Competition, and “Best Foreigner” in the 2008 Ustuu-Khooree World Music Festival in Tuva, where the form originated. As much as the complex musical underpinnings of Soriah’s music reach back to Central Asia, he traces his roots back to his father’s homeland of Mexico. His explorations of the cities and wilderness of Mexico and considerable research into the Aztec mysteries, as well as the present-day animism of Tuvan Shamanism, have deeply influenced his pan-cultural ethos. Through costume, movement and meditation Soriah evokes an otherworld of profound mystical import. Though the settings for his performances have ranged from arenas, concert halls and churches, to swamps, caves, tree tops and even an abandoned nuclear reactor, his project carries its own sense of place and time, which transcend the concrete world.
ANEURYSM
DJ Aneurysm is a San Francisco bay area native, a producer of electronic music, and a Grammy nominated recording engineer.
He effectively remixes Rock-n-Roll, RnB, Hip Hop, and other forms of popular music. Aneurysm's background is steeped in the less accessible, more obscure, and listener challenging forms of modern music, as well as noise. Aneurysm is not affiliated with any sect, denomination or DJ Krew.
COPPE
Coppé (pronounced Co-pa'y) is a Japanese electronic music singer-songwriter and music producer. She has released eight solo albums on her self-owned Mango + Sweet Rice label. Coppé was born and raised in Tokyo. Her real name is Yoshimi, which means pure, good and beautiful in Japanese. She was given the nickname Coppé by her mother because on her birth day she resembled a loaf of bread of the same name. As a child, Coppé travelled frequently between Japan and Hawaii, and also lived for awhile in Arizona. She studied classical piano and ballet from the age of three. As a child she won a Nihon Record Taisho award (sometimes called "Japanese Grammy") for her song "Peke No Uta", which was released via King Records. She also won a Chibikko Nodojiman award while still in elementary school singing her original song "Red Red Balloon". Also while still a child she began to appear regularly on a weekly NHK TV show "Uta No Tomodachi". This led to her getting involved with radio, her first regular show being "All Nite Nippon". She later also had shows on FM Tokyo and FM Yokohama. Her English language skills led to her being on NHK show based on learning English. Other TV shows in which she made regular appearances were TBS's "Jikan Desuyo" and "Ginza Now", NTV's "Shower Gang" and the music program "Poppers MTV" where she interviewed many foreign artists including Ray Charles, Bob Marley, James Brown, Madonna, the Police, Cyndi Lauper and Michael Jackson. After her father's death, she relocated to Honolulu in order to be closer to her mother. In Hawaii she also had a radio program on KIKI AM 83. While becoming well known as a radio and TV personality, Coppé also continued to write and perform her own music, and in 1995 she self-released her first album. Her music includes many influences but is generally electronic and club oriented. She has performed in the US, UK, Spain and Japan, and collaborated with a wide range of musicians including Plaid, Q-Bert, DJ Vadim, ex-Orb member Chris Weston, Senior Coconut, Tipsy, Peanut Butter Wolf, members of Skinny Puppy, Takemura Nobukazu, DJ Kensei, Hifana and Jemapur.
AMANDROID
After many nomadic years spent travelling the world, Amandroid ended up in San Francisco, playing music and doing events with the 5lowershop collective. She was introduced to 5lowershop through SPAZ, and the Autonomous Mutant Festival in 1998 (www.mutantfest.org). After touring in Australia in 1999-2000 (Earthdream), Amandroid was inspired by the Solar Labrats, to convert a schoolbus to run on vegetable oil, and has since clocked, an unknown thousands of miles, touring all over the U.S, canada, and Baja, dj'ing, playing live electronic sets, and setting up sound, (with Selector 138, as "Army of Love Sound"), at underground warehouse parties, and outdoor renegade events, causing mayhem wherever possible. Over the past couple years she has slowly relocated to a remote location in the mountains of northern california, but still makes her way to the bay area, and on other travels whenever possible, especially when she needs to get her fix of crazy music, and be around the energy of all the insane brilliant peops that she knows and loves to make shit happen with. She is into collaboration musically, protest with sound, rooms full of dancing people, and creating soundscape environments incorporating and maximizing thee utmost possible Bass......
